Day 4: What is true love?

 



True love. The dictionary defines it as "a profoundly tender, passionate affection for another person", but the fact is there are many different ideas of what true love may be.

"True love is a symbol of eternity.  It wipes out all sense of time, destroying all memory of a beginning and all fear of an end."

"Love is an irresistible desire to be irresistibly desired."  ~Robert Frost

"True love is not how you forgive, but how you forget, not what you see but what you feel, not how you listen but how you understand, and not how you let go but how you hold on."

"When we love, it isn't because the person's perfect, it's because we learn to see an imperfect person perfectly."

These are all amazing quotes about the idea of true love, and the truth is that there can never be one exact definition or thought of what it is because everyone views it differently.

To me, true love is wanting to fall asleep and wake in that person's arms forever. True love is knowing that the other has flaws, but loving them in spite of those imperfections. True love is feeling that your hand fits perfectly within the others. True love is smiling at the other for absolutely no reason at all, and feeling a flutter in your heart everytime you make eye contact. True love is missing someone, even though you just saw them, and feeling as if everyday you are with them is that much brighter. True love is realizing that there will be disagreements, but understanding that those disagreements balance you out as a couple, and deciding to agree to disagree. True love is looking into the future, and never being able to imagine not having the other in your future. To me, true love is never thinking of being with someone else because you are without a doubt happy with your partner. True love is falling in love with your best friend; someone you feel you can share all of your innermost thoughts with. True love is never judging the other, and wanting the absolute best for them in life.

True love is a feeling of your heart skipping a beat and falling more and more in love each day; it is realizing that there will be good and bad days, but knowing that regardless of what day it is, you want it to be spent with that person.
